SLIP-2: meaning and examples

Good morning again everyone.

Today we continue our series of lessons about expressions with the word SLIP.

Today's expression is: SLIP THROUGH THE NET

Meaning: when someone slips through the net, an organization or a system fails to find them and deal with them.

Example 1:
We tried to contact all of the former students for the class reunion, but several have slipped through the net. We just can't find them.

Example 2:
The system is failing and people who have lost their job or who badly need help are still slipping through the net.
