SLIP-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Last Tuesday we looked at the expression slip your mind, and this week we have decided to do a series about expressions with SLIP.

Today's expression is: LET SOMETHING SLIP

It means: to give someone information that is supposed to be secret.

It is a synonym of last week's expression, spill the beans.

Example 1:
Despite being pressured, he tried not to let slip what he knew about the new marketing project.

Example 2:
I accidentally let it slip that he had given me more than 1,000.00€ for the car.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
