RIP-2: meaning and examples

Good morning again.

Today we continue our study of expressions with the English word RIP.

Today's expression is
: to rip off something (slang; informal)

Meaning: to steal something.

Example 1
:
The thieves broke into the office and ripped off three computers and five-hundred euros in cash.

There is also a noun rip-off, which is used to describe something that is not worth what you pay for it.

Example 2:
You paid 300 euros for that bike? What a rip-off! I think it's probably only worth one-hundred euros, at best.
