STRIKE A DEAL: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we continue our look at expressions with the word strike.

Today's expression is: to strike a deal

Meaning: to make an agreement with someone in which both sides have an advantage.

Example 1:
The unions and management argued for a long time, but finally they struck a deal, so the strike was called off.

Example 2:
They were unable to strike a deal, so the meeting ended abruptly.
