TO RENEW: meaning and examples

Good morning,

Before giving you today's word, I want to remind you that yesterday's word (urge) has nothing to do with the Spanish verb "urgir." In English "urgir" would be "to be urgent."

Today's expression is: to renew (verb)

In means: to arrange for something to continue for a longer time.

We usually use this verb when we talk about extending an expiry date for official documents, memberships or subscriptions.

Example 1:
My passport expires next month, so I must remember to renew it.

Example 2:
Donald was so satisfied with his subscription to Motor Magazine that he decided to renew it for three more years.

BE CAREFUL! The translation of renew is "renovar" in Spanish. The word renovate also exists in English but it means to repair or improve something that is old.

If you have any questions about today's verb, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I hope you have a great day!
