URGE: meaning and examples

Good morning,

Today we will look at two uses of the word urge: as a VERB and as a NOUN

(1) VERB--> to urge someone to do something
(2) NOUN--> to have an urge to do something.

(1) The verb means: to encourage or advise someone strongly to do something.

(2) The noun means: a strong feeling or need to do something.

Example 1:
We urge our students to make English a part of their daily routine.

Example 2:
When Sally was pregnant, she often had an urge to eat fresh vegetables.
