SHOPPING EXPRESSIONS: meaning and examples

Good morning,

Now that the summer sales are over, it's safe to talk about shopping.

Today we will focus on some expressions related to shopping.

Today's 1st expression is: To go shopping / To shop for

In means: = to go to a shop and buy things.

Example 1:
My sister loves going shopping. She especially likes shopping for shoes.

Today's 2nd expression is: To do the shopping

In means: to go to a grocery shop or supermarket and buy the weekly groceries (food).

Example 2:
People used to do the shopping everyday, but nowadays many families prefer to do the shopping once a week.

Today's 3rd shopping expression is: To go window shopping

In means: to look at things in shop windows but not buy anything.

Example 3:
When Annette visits a big city, she usually goes window-shopping in the city centre, but rarely decides to buy anything.
