TO MISS-1: meaning and examples

This week we will concentrate on different uses and meanings of the incredibly useful English verb to miss.

One of the more common meanings of miss is not be present for someone or for a scheduled event.

Example 1
We were so late to the Barça-Madrid match that we missed the first half.

Example 2
I would never want to miss the annual company Christmas dinner; I always have a great time.
