SELF-CENTRED: meaning and examples

Good morning. Today's word is: self-centred It means: to only be interested in your own needs or desires. The translation for self-centred is egocéntrico. This word exists in English as egocentric, although that word is more technical (field of psychology). However, we often hear the Spanish word egoista translated directly into English as egoist, a word which is not very common in English. Self-centred is a better translation. Example 1 They say that only children (a child with no brothers or sisters) tend to be self-centred because they get all their parents' and grandparents' attention. This hasn't been scientifically-proven, however. Example 2 I don't like going out to dinner with Elisa very much. She's so self-centred that she always ends up dominating the conversation, which is invariably about her! If you have any questions about this word, please don't hesitate to contact us. Have a good day!
