SALE-4: meaning and examples

Hello.

Today we look at more uses and meanings of the word sale.

Today's expression is: Sales Department

Meaning: The part of a company that deals with selling products.

Example 1:
He works in the sales department for Hewlett Packard. He has been working there for more than five years.

The people who work in the sales department are part of the sales force or sales team and are often called sales representatives.

Example 2:
The Acme group has a sales force of over 3000 representatives.

To be politically correct, we often avoid the words salesman or saleswoman, and just use sales representative (or sales rep, for short).

Example 3:
She is one of the best sales reps in the company. You can't fire her!
