Today we continue with our look at uses and meanings of the word sale.

Today's expression is: Car boot sale (US: Garage Sale)

Meaning: An outdoor sale where people sell things that they no longer want (from the backs of their cars or from their garage).

Example 1:
They had so many things accumulated in their house that they decided to hold a car boot sale on Sunday morning. Not only did they get rid of a lot of junk (trastos), but they made over one thousand euros!

Example 2:
Garage sales are quite popular in the spring in the United States
