SALE-2: meaning and examples

Today we continue with our look at uses and meanings of the word sale.

Today's expression is: On sale

It means: Available to be bought, especially in a shop or store. In American English, in particular, this expression can mean 'being offered at a reduced price.'

Example 1:
The tickets for the concert went on sale at 9:00am and by 12:00 noon, they were sold out (sell out = agotarse)!

Example 2:
Everything in the shop is on sale. Everything is discounted 10, 20 and even 50 percent. I saved hundreds of Euros!

Example 3:
He decided not to buy the jacket. Instead, he will wait until it goes on sale in January, since he will save a lot of money.
