PATTERNS ON CLOTHING-2: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we continue looking at words and expressions to describe the patterns on clothing.

Today's word is: stripes (Span: rayas) or striped (Span: de rayas o rayado)

Meaning stripe: a long narrow line of colour that is a different colour from the areas next to it.

Example 1:
A zebra is easy to distinguish from a horse, due to it's black and white stripes.

Example 2:
She bought a white tablecloth with red stripes.

Example 3:
David: What shirt should I wear today, mama?
Olga: How about the plain green-coloured one, or the long-sleeved polo shirt with blue and green stripes?
