PATTERNS ON CLOTHING-3: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we finish our quick look at some words and expressions to describe the patterns on clothing.

Today's word is: polka dots (Span: topos/lunares)

Meaning: one of many dots that together form a pattern, especially on fabric (tejido/género).

Example 1:
Did you see what Matthew is wearing? A polka-dot tie... he really looks ridiculous!

Example 2:
She looks beautiful in that dress with polka dots.

Another shape that is often used on clothing or fabric are diamonds (rombos).

Example 3:
The tablecloth is yellow with small white diamond-shaped patterns printed on it. It looks very good on the new table.
