Today's word is: benefit (noun)

Meaning 1: extra money or advantages that you get in addition to your salary as part of your job.

Example 1: In the US many employers offer workers private health insurance as part of the job benefits.

Meaning 2: the advantage you get from a situation.

Example 2: There are several benefits to moving out of the big city: a friendlier atmosphere, less pollution and lower costs. We can also use benefit as a verb with this same meaning (to benefit from something).

Meaning 3: government money for people who are ill or unemployed.

Example 4: I'm sorry, but you're not eligible for unemployment benefits because you didn't work long enough in your previous job.

BE CAREFUL: The translation of beneficio (term. financiero o comercio) is profit, NOT benefit. We'll look at the word profit in tomorrow's Daily Vitamin.
