VEGETABLE EXPRESSIONS-2: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we continue looking at common English expressions that use vegetable words in them.

Today's expression is: Couch Potato

Meaning: a person who spends a lot of time sitting (on a couch, of course) and watching television.

Example 1:
Homer Simpson is the perfect example of an American couch potato.

Example 2:
Thanks to an ever-increasing number of young couch potatoes in Spain, there is now a serious obesity problem amongst Spanish children.

Notice the irregular spelling of potato in the plural (potatoes).
