TO OVERCOME: meaning and examples

Good morning!

Today we have another word related to changing habits.

Today's word is: to overcome

It means: to conquer an obstacle or difficulty.

Example 1:
Lucy overcame her fear of driving by taking several lessons with a patient and understanding driving teacher.

Example 2:
Tracey: I don't know if I will ever overcome my dependence on cigarettes!
Sam: Wow, yes, that must be hard. Well, what is standing in your way of success?
Tracey: I don't think I have much willpower, to be honest. Plus, my husband also smokes!

Hopefully, today you will be able to overcome any obstacles in your way!

Have a fantastic day!
