TO FALL-7 (REVISION): meaning and examples

Good morning. 

So far we have seen the following expressions that use the word fall

-to fall in love
-to fall for something
-to fall asleep
-to fall ill
-to fall into noun
-to fall from power
-to fall short
-to fall to pieces

Today's expression is: to fall apart

Meaning 1: to be in a very bad condition so that parts are breaking off (referring to machinery).

Example 1:
His car is so old that it is falling apart.

Meaning 2: to refer to a situation that has so many problems that it is no longer possible to maintain it.

Example 2:
After more than 40 years, their marriage finally fell apart.

Example 3:
The deal between the two corporations fell apart when the two parties failed to agree on a price.
