Good morning.

Over the next few days we are going to look at some expressions that use the word short. Even though this word is, theoretically, easy to translate (bajo, corto, breve, etc.), we're going to look at various uses that might surprise you.

Today we look at the NOUN: short (informal)

Meaning 1: a brief film, especially one that is shown before a longer film in the cinema.

Example 1:
Have you ever seen the short by Tim Burton called Frankenweenie? It's only 29 minutes long, but I really liked it.

Meaning 2: a small, strong alcoholic drink, for example whiskey.

Example 2:
Speaker 1:Do you feel like a short of whiskey?
Speaker 2: No thank you. I'll just have a glass of water, please.
