SHOOT EXPRESSIONS-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Most of you probably know the English verb TO SHOOT, which means "to fire a gun or other weapon," among other definitions. However, this word (which can also be a noun) is used in a lot of expressions, and this week we are going to look at a few of those expressions.

Today's SHOOT expression is: to shoot from the hip

Meaning: to react quickly without thinking carefully first.

Example 1:
I like the new CEO, but sometimes, when he's under pressure, he shoots from the hip too much and makes serious mistakes.

Example 2:
Olga works slowly and methodically while Matthew jumps quickly into projects and shoots from the hip; but they make a good team.

I hope you have a great day!
