RUN (1): meaning and examples

Good morning.

Most people know what the basic meaning of the word run is in English: to move quickly with your legs (correr). However, run has many different meanings. Today we will look at one of the most common "alternative" meanings.

Today's word is: run

Today's meaning is: to control and organise something, such as a business, organisation or event.

Example 1:
The shareholders of the company would like more say in how the company is run.

Example 2:
His father was an incredible businessman, but Jack has no idea how to run a business.

Example 3:
He was the man in charge of running Bill Clinton's election campaign.
