ON THE WAY: meaning and examples

Good morning.

I hope you had a good weekend.

Today's expression is: ON THE (YOUR-ITS) WAY (Span: en camino)

Meaning: on route to some place; coming or approaching.

We use this expression in different contexts; consider the examples below.

Example 1 (going or coming):
David: Dad...when are you going to come home?
Mark: I'll be home soon. I'm on my way.

Example 2 (during a journey):
Sarah: How long did it take you to get to Madrid?
Alex: More than 6 hours, but you have to remember that we stopped for lunch on the way.

We also use this expression to talk about a baby who is not born yet.

Example 3:
They have three children, but there's another one on the way.
