IGNORE
IGNORE: meaning and examples
Good morning. I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend.
Today's word is: ignore (verb)
Meaning: to pay no attention to something; to pretend that you have not seen somebody or to pretend that somebody is not there.
Example 1:
Fabio is completely ignoring the president of the club. I think he is upset about talks with Mr Schuster.
Example 2:
He ignored the 'No Smoking' signs and lit up a cigarette.
Notice that ignore DOES NOT mean to not know something. How would you translate the following sentence to English?
i) Ignoro cuándo volverá.
The correct answer is "I don't know when she will return." I CANNOT say "I ignore when she will return."
