I DON'T THINK THAT'S ACCURATE: meaning and examples

Hello again everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. Happy Friday to you all. I hope you have had a great week.

Today we look at our final three phrases and expressions that we can use to disagree with other people

Here are today's three phrases.
I don't think that's accurate.
I'm not on board with that idea.
I think we have different views on this.

Example 1:
Arnold: The world is getting worse and worse. If you don't believe me, just watch the news on television.
Heather: I don't think that's accurate. There are lots of beautiful things happening in the world all the time, but those events don't get included on the news programmes.
Arnold: Maybe you're right. I think I need to stop wasting so much time watching the news.

Example 2:
Doug: I think we should lay off two people from each department in order to reduce costs and get through this crisis.
Talia: I'm not on board with that idea. I think it would be better to first speak to the team to see if everyone, including us... the managers, are willing to take a temporary 10% cut in their pay until we get through this challenging time.
Doug: That's a great idea, Talia. Let's set up a meeting to speak to the team.

Example 3
Kelly: Most employees don't really care about the company; they just want to get paid at the end of the month and spend as little time at work as possible.
Lillian: I think we have a different view on this. I think we have an excellent team and most of them actually work a lot of extra hours, and are not asking to be paid for that extra work.

Hopefully this week you have been able to use some of these phrases in your daily English interactions. For more practice, I encourage you to create your own sentence(s) / dialogue(s) with one or more of these expressions on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will give you feedback as soon as possible.

Have a great day and an excellent weekend! We'll be back on Monday with more lessons. Next week we'll be speaking about hobbies.

All the best!
