HEART EXPRESSIONS (5): meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today's expression is: to have your heart in your mouth

Meaning: to feel nervous or frightened about something.  

Example 1:
She woke up in the middle of the night and saw a man sitting at the foot of her bed. Needless to say, her heart was in her mouth.

Example 2:
When I watch important football matches, I often have my heart in my mouth. I don't know why, but I always get nervous.
