HEADQUARTERS: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone.

Today's expression is: Headquarters

Meaning: a place from which an organisation or a military operation is controlled. It is often abbreviated as HQ [eich kiu].

Example 1:
I have a friend who works for Nestle in their headquarters in Switzerland.

Example 2:
There is a police headquarters close to my house.

This word also came up in the Breakfast Club, and would be translated as oficina central (in the case of a corporation) or cuartel general (in the case of the police).
