BY HEART: meaning and examples
Good morning.
Today's expression is: to know something by heart
It means: using only your memory
We sometimes say off by heart.
Example 1:
I dialled the number so many times that I know it by heart.
Example 2:
Before the meeting, I have to learn the whole speech off by heart, and I only have one hour.
This expression came up in last Saturday's Breakfast Club and could be translated to Spanish as de memoria.
