FRUIT EXPRESSIONS-2: meaning and examples
Yesterday we looked at expressions with the word fruit. For the rest of the week, we are going to look at common expressions that include the names of fruits in them (apple, banana, grape, etc).
Today's expression is: The apple of someone's eye
Meaning: a person or thing that is loved more than any other; the person someone is most proud of.
Jason was the first child and the apple of his father's eye.
Her youngest daughter was the apple of her eye.
One of Stevie Wonder's most famous songs, "You are the Sunshine of my Life," written in the 1970s, included these lyrics:
You are the sunshine of my life
That's why I'll always be around
