After yesterday's lesson about April Fool's Day, today we return to our review of expressions with the word FOOL.
Today's expression is: to play the fool
Meaning: to behave in a stupid way in order to make people laugh, especially in a way that may annoy them.
Example 1:
Will you please stop playing the fool and get back to work! We have lots to do and we don't have much time.
Example 2:
The teacher told David to stop playing the fool and return to his seat.
