ESTAR AL DIA: meaning and examples

Good morning. Today we are going to answer another question from Marta P. She was wondering how you translate "estar al día" into English. In English this expression is: to be up to date with/on something; to keep (mantanerse) up to date with/on something; to be trendy (in reference to fashion) It means: to be modern; to be familiar with the latest ideas, knowledge or fashion Example 1: Harry is so up to date with new technologies, while I still have problems programming my video! I think it's because he spends so much time on the internet. Example 2: If you give me your email address, I'll keep you up to date on the family news. Example 3: I looked in my wardrobe the other day and I realised that my clothes aren't very trendy. I guess it's time to go shopping! I hope we have answered your questions satisfactorily, Marta. Thank you for suggesting these two useful and common expressions! If anyone has any questions about these expressions, or if you would like to make a suggestion for a future Daily Vitamin, please don't hesitate to contact me. Have an excellent day!
