Today we continue with our review of expressions with the verb CRY.
Today's expression is: to cry wolf
It means: to call for help when you don't need it, with the result that when you do need it people don't believe you.
Example 1:
Every time she hears a noise during the night, she calls the police. Crying wolf so often is dangerous. One day she is going to have a real problem and the police won't come.
Example 2:
Pay no attention to him; he is just crying wolf again.
