CLUMSY: meaning and examples

Today's word is: clumsy (adj.)

Meaning: moving or doing things in a very awkward way. Lacking grace in movement or posture. (For more information about the adjective awkward, see the Daily Vitamin from November 25th, 2003.)

Example 1:
His teenage daughter is so clumsy; she drops something every 5 minutes.

Example 2:
His clumsy fingers couldn't untie the knot.

We can also use clumsy to describe situations or processes.

Example 3:
The complaints procedure in the restaurant is clumsy and difficult; that's why the clients don't use it.
