YOUR vs. YOU'RE: meaning and examples

Hello again everyone... welcome back to the Daily Vitamin

Due to the holidays this week, today is our last lesson of the week. And once again we look at another pair of words that are often confused in English. Again, today's words are pronounced the same, but have different spelling and have different meanings/uses.

Word 1: YOUR

Meaning: a determiner that means belonging to or relating to the person or group of people being spoken to or written to.

Example 1:
Tim: Is this your car?
Janet: No, my car is much bigger.

Word 2: YOU'RE

Meaning: the contraction of YOU ARE.

Example 2You're the best salesperson on the team. Congratulations!

Can you create your own original sentences with these often-confused words? You can post your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will give you feedback as soon as possible.

I hope you have a great day and an excellent long weekend! I'll see you on Monday with another lesson.

All the best!
