TWIST-4: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we finish our look at the English word twist.

Today's expression is: to twist something off

Meaning: to turn and at the same time pull something with your hand to remove it from something.

Example 1:  
After a lot of effort, I finally twisted off the lid and was able to see what was inside the jar.

Example 2:
Now most beer bottles have a twist-off cap and it is not necessary to use a bottle opener.
