TWIST-2
TWIST-2: meaning and examples
Hello again everyone.
Before beginning, I wanted to invite you to read my blog entry from a couple of weeks ago, if you haven't already:
http://ziggurat.blogcink.com/2010/11/10/el-consultorio-de-ingles/
Today we continue our focus on the English word twist.
Today's expression is: to twist somone's arm (informal)
Meaning: to persuade or force someone to do something.
Example 1:
I'm very sorry Alex. I didn't want to reduce your salary, but they twisted my arm. Apparently the company is having some serious financial problems.
Example 2:
Look Jack, are you willing to cooperate or am I going to have to twist your arm?
If you have any questions, let me know by posting a query in the Daily Vitamin Section on our website.
Have a great day!
