TO FALL-5 (REVISION): meaning and examples

Good morning everybody! I hope you had a great weekend.

As I said last week, there are LOTS of expressions with and uses of the verb to fall. This week we will review some more.

Today's expression with fall is: to fall short

It means: to not reach a certain level or to not achieve something that you were trying to do.

Example 1
The PSOE fell short of a majority in parliament.

Example 2
The company has fallen short of its annual objectives, which explains why its stock-market value has also fallen.
