Meaning: to end an argument or a quarrel and become friends again. To make peace with an enemy.  

Sentence 1: You two really need to stop fighting and just bury the hatchet. Your conflict is negatively affecting the whole marketing department.  

Sentence 2: After their divorce, Pat and Diane finally buried the hatchet and are now friends again. That has been a positive influence on their children.
