THICK-3: meaning and examples

Good morning;

Today we finish up our look at the word thick with a couple of expressions.

Today's 1st expression is: thick-skinned (adjective)

Meaning: Someone who is thick-skinned does not appear to be easily hurt by criticism or insults.

Example 1:
You do need to be thick-skinned to survive as a politician in this country.  

Today's 2nd expression is: in the thick of something

Meaning: involved in the busiest or most active part of something.

Example 2:
When you're in the thick of the action, you don't always have time to think.

Example 3:
I can't talk right now - I'm in the thick of things.
