SLANG: TO DECK OUT: meaning and examples

Hello everyone, and welcome to today's Daily Vitamin. For today's lesson, we are looking at the phrasal verb TO DECK OUT (and the adjective DECKED OUT).

Definition: to dress or decorate very fancily.

Example 1: We got all decked out for our holiday party

Example 2: You really decked out your house this year! It looks so beautiful with all these lights!

Example 3: She always decks her dog out in hilarious Christmas clothes and takes a funny picture. 

The word DECK is often associated with Christmas because of a famous Christmas song titled "Deck the Halls." The song title is also an expression that means to decorate a place with Christmas decor. You can listen to this song here:
