Today we are looking at the phrasal verb TO TURN DOWN.

Definition 1: To reduce in volume or temperature.

Example 1: Can you turn the music down?

Example 2: Turn down the heat and let the soup cook slowly for 20 minutes.

Definition 2: To prepare a bed by folding the outer covering down. To fold the blankets of a bed so that it is ready for sleep.

Example 3: The hotel staff turned down our beds for us.
