ON TOP OF: meaning and examples

Good morning!

Today's expression is
: ON TOP OF this / that / everything / it all, etc.

It means
: in addition to. It is often used to add an extra point to a list of things.

Example 1
:
We're having the barbeque at our place and on top of that, all the cousins from out of town are coming to stay. It's going to be a busy weekend!

Example 2
:
I had to give a presentation yesterday morning and I spilled coffee on my presentation notes. Then, I arrived late because my car broke down. On top of it all, the microphone didn't work. What a disaster!

Enjoy the rest of your day!
