NOT NEARLY ENOUGH: meaning and examples

Good morning,

Today we are going to look at an expression with NEARLY, a word that we explained yesterday.

Today's expression is: NOT NEARLY ENOUGH

It means: insufficient; not close to having enough of something or being enough.

Example 1:
There are not nearly enough chairs in the conference room. Go and fetch ten more from the room next door, please.

Example 2:
There wasn't nearly enough food. We won't be hiring that catering company again.

Example 3:
Donna: You are not nearly patient enough with your brother. He's trying as hard as he can!
Greg: You're right. I do get frustrated easily. Maybe it would be better if he got a proper teacher.

Tomorrow we will present the Essential Weekly Vitamin in Spanish.

Have a great day!
