MONEY EXPRESSIONS: TO LIVE OFF
MONEY EXPRESSIONS: TO LIVE OFF: meaning and examples
Today we finish our series of Daily Vitamins about money expressions.
Today's money expression is: to live off someone / something
Meaning: to receive money you need to live from somebody or something because you don't have enough yourself. It's often used disapprovingly.
Example 1:
Lori? She's been living off her parents for the last five or six years. She isn't looking for a job because she doesn't need one... thanks to her parents!
Example 2:
There are many families who live off welfare, since neither of the parents can find a job.
