Today's expression is: TO HIT THE BOOKS

Definition: to study, usually with a certain amount of seriousness and determination.

Please note that this expression is more common in the US and Australia.

Sentence 1: I'm afraid I can't go out this weekend. I really need to hit the books.

Sentence 2: You need to stop watching YouTube videos and hit the books. Your final exam is in two days!
