KIND-3: meaning and examples

Good morning again.

Today we continue our look at meanings of and expressions with the English word KIND.

Today's expression is: nothing of the kind / nothing of the sort

Meaning
: used to emphasize that the situation is very different from what has been said.

Example 1
:
Teacher
: Did you push Charlie?
Child: Nothing of the kind! Charlie insulted me, but I didn't push him. He fell down.

Example 2:
They thought we would accept the cheapest budget, but we intended nothing of the sort. We chose the company with the best service, not the cheapest price.
