IT'S ABOUT TIME: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Last June we received a question from Miriam Mensa and didn't have time to answer it before the summer, so we are answering it today. Here is Miriam's question:

miriam

Yes Miriam, you are correct. When we say, it's about time, we are indicating that something should have happened before now, and we are not happy about it.

Example 1:
It's about time Jack! Where have you been? I've been waiting since two o'clock!

Example 2:
Sandy: We received our income tax refund yesterday.
Albert: It's about time! We should have received it months ago.
