IT IS JUST AS WELL: meaning and examples

Good morning. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Today's expression is: It is just as well It is used: to say that a result or situation is good, although it is not what you originally planned or expected. This expression is used in spoken English. Example 1 Sarah: Michael called to cancel his party on Saturday night. Louis: It's just as well. I've got a lot of work to do this weekend so I really don't have much time for socializing. Example 2 It's just as well that we've decided to go to Greece instead of Mexico on our honeymoon. All of those hotels on the Mexican coast have really been damaged in the hurricanes this year. The Spanish translation of just as well would be something like menos mal. Remember to post any questions about today's Daily Vitamin in the Daily Vitamin Plus! section on our website.
