in the event of or
in the event that
It is used: to say what will happen in a particular situation or what we should do in a particular situation.
We use
in the event of NOUN or GERUND.
We use
in the event that SUBJECT VERB COMPLEMENT.
Example 1
In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the auditorium.
Example 2
In the event that I should arrive late, please start the meeting without me.
Example 3
In the event of a drop in share prices, buy as much stock as possible.
