HIGH-2: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. High...hello. I know, I know...it's terrible linguistic humour. Hi!

Today we continue with another HIGH expression.

Today's HIGH expression is: High and dry

Meaning 1: in a position out of the water.

Example 1:
The millionaire's yacht was left high and dry on a sandbank.

Meaning 2: in a difficult situation, without help or money; abandoned

Example 2:
They were supposed to be married at 2:00 PM today, but the groom (novio) never showed up; he left the bride (novia) high and dry at the altar.

I hope all of you have a great day!
