GROUCHY: meaning and examples

Good morning.

The idea for today's Daily Vitamin came to me this weekend, when my eight-year-old son was being grouchy.

Today's word is: Grouchy (adjective)

Meaning: bad-tempered and often complaining; easily upset

Example 1:
Whenever my son David has to take a shower, he gets very grouchy and says he doesn't want to. However, after his shower, he is always very relaxed and happy.

We can also use the noun grouch.

Example 2:
Fernando Fernán Gómez was a great actor and director, but sometimes he could sure be a grouch.

Example 3:
Many people say that I am a grouch. It's not true, I'm just grouchy some of the time. ;-)
